El Gouna is a purpose-built seaside town on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, about 25 km north of Hurghada. It’s known for easy logistics, lagoons and a water-sports lifestyle – kitesurfing, wingfoiling, diving, yoga and more. If you are flying in, the closest airport is Hurghada International Airport (HRG) and the drive usually takes around 30–40 minutes. Need help with planning or transfers? SPOT
Our spot is a large crystal-clear lagoon (approx. 2–3 km long and around 1 km wide up to the reef) with mostly flat water and a sandy bottom. The depth changes with the tide (roughly 40–70 cm on average), so you can ride in knee–waist deep water depending on the day. At very low tide you may walk 30–50 m from the beach before you have full water depth; at high tide it can reach chest deep.
There are no dangerous corals close to shore and the bottom is sandy, but we still recommend water shoes (you may step on shells). We run an organized setup with separate zones for teaching, independent riders and foil/wing sessions to keep the lagoon safe and smooth for everyone. If you are new here or returning after a break, we strongly recommend a short refresher lesson – see kite courses or message us.
In the very north of El Gouna you will typically find reliable wind and easy lagoon access. There are no upwind obstacles (trees, buildings, hotels), which helps keep the wind cleaner at the shoreline.
There are no dangerous corals close to shore; in some places you may step on shells, so we recommend water shoes for protection.
We have divided the lagoon into zones to increase safety and keep the flow smooth for everyone:
• Beginners / teaching area – shallow water
• Advanced area – shallow and deeper water (plus local features)
• Wingfoil / hydrofoil area – deeper water
For safety, please follow right-of-way rules and keep the teaching area clear. If you are unsure where to launch or ride, ask our beach crew.

KITEPOWER is the home of kiteboarding in El Gouna, Egypt. We are certified IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) professionals focused on safe, fast progression in beginner-friendly shallow flat-water conditions. Our team keeps lessons structured, clear and fun – with an open, friendly atmosphere on the beach.

If you have an IKO certification (or proven independent riding skills), you can use the convenience of our rental shop. We have a large selection of modern kites and boards for different styles and conditions. Want to keep it simple on a longer stay? Combine rental with storage / beach use and ride directly from our organized lagoon launch.
