What if there's no one my weight for a semi-private lesson?
Semi-private means 2 students of similar weight share one kite. If we can't pair you with a same-weight partner, you have two options: ride private 1:1 at the private rate, or keep the semi-private price and ride 1:1 for the equivalent (shorter) water time. We tell you up front, so it's never a surprise — and you never pay more than you booked.
What makes El Gouna different from the rest of Egypt?
El Gouna is a privately built and managed lagoon town — founded in 1989 by Samih Sawiris and run by Orascom — with its own marinas, hospital, schools and an international community. Controlled entrances and local services shape how the town works, but they are not a personal-safety guarantee. Check current official Egypt advice and use normal travel precautions.
Is El Gouna a good active family holiday if not everyone kites?
Yes. Kitepower combines coached kite, wing and foil sessions with a beach, SALT restaurant and a children's playground, while El Gouna adds hotels, marinas, golf, padel, diving and evening life within a short ride. The playground is not supervised childcare, so an adult remains responsible. Hurghada airport is 30–40 minutes away and we can arrange the transfer.
Why El Gouna for kitesurfing?
El Gouna combines a large protected lagoon, warm water, measured N–NW wind and a full resort town about 4 hours' direct flight from much of Europe. The first roughly 800 m from our beach forms the shallower teaching area in typical conditions, while a separate deeper zone serves wing and foil. Depth and the usable zones change with the tide and the day's conditions.
Is El Gouna good for beginners?
Yes. In typical conditions, the first ~800 m off the beach forms a knee-to-waist-deep teaching area over sand. Actual depth varies with tide, location and the learner, so we select the lesson zone and time from the water level rather than promise that everyone can stand everywhere. With max 2 students per instructor and an IKO record of the skills actually demonstrated at no extra cost, the programme stays structured and closely coached.
When is the best time to kitesurf in El Gouna?
Wind blows year-round. From our station (4 years, 2 million+ readings) about 77% of days are rideable. August peaks near 85%, and the summer months run highest; even December, the quietest month, still rides about 6 days out of 10. For winter sun with reliable wind, October–April is the European off-season escape.
How is risk managed for kitesurfing in the El Gouna lagoon?
Kiteboarding carries real risk. In typical conditions, the first roughly 800 m forms a knee-to-waist-deep sandy teaching area. The water is usually flat, but chop, water movement, depth and traffic vary, so the team assesses the active zone for every session. Rescue support is available during operating hours; a specific intervention or response time is not guaranteed.
How does the tide affect the lagoon?
Water depth changes with the tide and daily conditions. The first ~800 m from our beach is the knee-to-waist-deep teaching area; beyond it, the lagoon gets deeper and includes a dedicated foil zone. We plan each kite, wing or foil session for the water level and conditions rather than promising identical depth on every tide.
Do I need a wetsuit in winter?
In summer it's boardshorts and bikini weather. In winter the air sits around 22 °C and the water is cooler, so on the water you'll want a full, long wetsuit (we provide it) and a hoodie on the beach — not a shorty, and definitely not boardshorts.
What if there's no wind during my trip?
Two answers. First, our Wind Guarantee: booked lesson hours never expire, so a calm day is never wasted money. Second, El Gouna is a full holiday town — golf, the Sliders cable park, desert safaris, snorkeling and diving, day trips to Luxor — so even a windless day is a good day.
How do I get to El Gouna from the airport?

Is El Gouna better than Hurghada for kitesurfing?
They share the same warm Red Sea, but El Gouna's lagoon is flatter and more protected than Hurghada's open, choppier water, and the thermal often keeps El Gouna powered on afternoons when Hurghada drops off. Add a calm, gated town where everything is 5–10 minutes away instead of a big, busy city, and for learning and flat-water riding El Gouna wins.
