One thing I have to say upfront: you can’t go wrong with accommodation in El Gouna. It’s a gated resort, everything is clean, safe, and within reach. The question isn’t whether you’ll find good accommodation, but which style suits you and how much you want to spend.
Prices range from roughly 50 € per night for a simple hotel up to 500 € for a luxury suite. And everything is at most 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from our kite centre.
How El Gouna Works
For those who haven’t been: El Gouna isn’t a typical Egyptian town. It’s a private resort on the Red Sea coast, about 25 km north of Hurghada. It has its own airport, hospital, schools, shops, and dozens of hotels and restaurants. It’s clean, safe, and well-organised.
Getting around El Gouna is easy — tuk-tuks (small open vehicles) run everywhere for about 1 €. So it doesn’t matter whether you stay right by our centre or at the other end — you’ll get to the beach without any trouble.
6 Hotels We Recommend
Over the years, dozens of hotels have been tried by our customers. These six come up most often:
1. Three Corners Rihanna Inn
Best for: Families with children looking for good value for money. A solid hotel with all-inclusive, pool, and kids’ programme. Nothing luxurious, but it works reliably. Many of our Czech customers stay here and are happy. Reasonably priced.
2. Ocean View Hotel
Best for: Couples and individuals who want peace without children. An adults-only hotel with nice views. Smaller, quieter, friendly staff. Good location — El Gouna Marina is within walking distance.
3. Ali Pasha Hotel
Best for: Those who want to be in the centre of the action. A boutique hotel right by the marina. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops. Smaller rooms but a fantastic atmosphere — in the evening you step out and you’re in the middle of everything. Popular with younger kitesurfers.
4. Casa Cook
Best for: Wellness enthusiasts, couples without children. A design-focused adults-only hotel with beautiful gardens and pool. Modern, minimalist style. Excellent food. Higher price bracket, but you get a genuinely pleasant experience. Many people come here even without a kite — just to relax.
5. Steigenberger Golf Resort
Best for: Those who want to combine golf and kitesurfing. A larger resort with a golf course. Spacious rooms, several pools, multiple restaurants. If you’re travelling with a partner who doesn’t kite, this is a great choice — while you’re on the water, they have plenty to do.
6. The Chedi
Best for: Those who want luxury. The most luxurious hotel in El Gouna. Huge rooms, private beaches, top-tier service. At the upper end of the price scale (expect 300–500 € per night), but if the budget allows, it’s a world-class experience.
Apartments and Villas
Not everyone wants a hotel. Many kitesurfers — especially those coming for longer stays or in groups — opt for apartments or villas.
Apartments are available on Airbnb and Booking.com. The advantage: your own kitchen, more space, often cheaper than a hotel (especially for 2+ people). El Gouna has dozens of residential complexes with pools and management. Prices from 30–40 € per night for a studio to 100+ € for a larger flat.
Villas are ideal for groups of 4–8 people. Private pool, garden, sometimes even direct lagoon access. Prices vary widely, but when splitting among a group, the per-person cost is often less than a hotel. Look on Airbnb or ask us — get in touch and we’ll send you recommendations.
What to Consider When Choosing
Distance from the kite centre. As I said — everything in El Gouna is close. But if you want to be as near as possible, choose accommodation in the northern part of El Gouna. By tuk-tuk, it’s then 3–5 minutes instead of 10.
All-inclusive vs. room only. All-inclusive is convenient, but El Gouna has plenty of excellent restaurants (including our beachside restaurant). If you like trying new places, all-inclusive will tie you down. On the other hand — after a full day of kiting, sometimes it’s nice to get back to the hotel and have everything ready.
Length of stay. For a week, a hotel works fine. For two weeks or more, consider an apartment. You’ll save money and feel more at home.
With or without kids. If you’re travelling with young children, choose a hotel with a kids’ club or pool. Kids can start kitesurfing lessons from age 5–6, but they need other activities too. El Gouna has playgrounds, cinema, swimming — they won’t be bored.
Coworking
This is a newer trend — people come for 2–4 weeks and combine work with kitesurfing. Work in the morning, ride in the afternoon. El Gouna has stable internet in most hotels and apartments, and there are coworking spaces available too. If you’re planning a “workation,” this is the ideal place.
How to Book
Two tried-and-tested sources:
- Booking.com — for hotels. Most hotels in El Gouna are listed, prices are competitive, and you get flexible cancellation policies.
- Airbnb — for apartments and villas. Wider selection, sometimes better prices for longer stays.
Or simply ask us. We know what works and, most importantly, we know what’s worked well for kitesurfers. Write via contact or book a course through online booking and we’ll sort out accommodation together.
One More Tip
If this is your first visit and you’re not sure what to choose — don’t worry, just pick something. You genuinely can’t go wrong in El Gouna. The biggest difference is in price and style, not quality. And after your first stay, you’ll know exactly what suits you.
80–90% of our customers come back. And most of them switch from a hotel to an apartment after their first visit — because they discover that they prefer having their own space and freedom.
See you on the beach.
