El Gouna has a surprisingly good food scene. For a town of a few tens of thousands of people, you’ll find dozens of restaurants – from Egyptian cuisine to Italian, Japanese, steaks, and seafood. And the food is a fraction of European prices.
Where to Eat in El Gouna
Downtown
The center of El Gouna – shops, cafes, restaurants. Here you’ll find everything from falafel for a few dollars to a solid Italian restaurant. It’s lively, especially in the evening.
Abu Tig Marina
A harbor lined with restaurants right on the water. It’s pricier here, but the atmosphere is excellent – you sit by yachts, watch the sunset, and enjoy fresh seafood. For a romantic dinner or celebration, this is the place.
Hotel Restaurants
Most hotels in El Gouna have their own restaurants – and some are genuinely good. Steigenberger, Mövenpick, Sheraton – all offer buffet breakfasts and dinners, plus à la carte options.
Tam El Hana
The Egyptian quarter with authentic local restaurants. Here you eat what Egyptians eat – koshari, taamiya, kebab. Prices are laughable and portions are huge. If you want to experience the real Egypt, this is where to go.
But Why Eat at Our Place
Alright, now I’ll be biased. But honestly – our restaurant at the Kitepower center has something the others don’t: it’s right on the beach, right at the spot.
What We Offer
Mediterranean and international cuisine. Wood-fired pizza, burgers, bowls, salads, fresh fish from the Red Sea. Plus cocktails, smoothies, coffee, and of course beer.
We serve breakfast from around 8-9 AM – and those staying near the center especially appreciate this. Walk in, have eggs and coffee, then head straight to the water.
Prices? Roughly $3-15 per dish. That’s for a full lunch or dinner on a beach by the sea.
Social Hub of the Kite Community
But our restaurant is more than just a place to eat. It’s where the entire kite community comes together. After a lesson, you sit down, grab a drink, chat with other students, and share stories from the water. Instructors sit with you. People meet here and friendships are formed that last for years.
In the evening, the vibe changes – people come from town, families with kids, couples. We stay open until the last guest leaves. No “kitchen closes at nine.” If you’re sitting and chatting, nobody rushes you out.
For Families
We have a playground right next to the restaurant. So the scenario looks like this: you order lunch, the kids play on the climbing structures and trampolines, and you sit in peace on the beach. That’s a combination you won’t find anywhere else.
For Digital Nomads
Wi-Fi, tables with an ocean view, coffee, and calm. Many of our customers work from the restaurant in the morning and kite in the afternoon. Or the other way around. It’s not a coworking space with office chairs – but honestly, who’d want to sit in an office when they can sit on the beach?
Practical Info
Our restaurant is open to everyone – you don’t have to be a kite school customer. Come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can pay in Egyptian pounds (EGP) or by card.
Find us in the northern part of El Gouna, right at the Kitepower center. Whether you’re coming for kitesurfing or just looking for a great lunch spot by the sea – drop by.
