For a first kitesurfing holiday in Egypt, compare the teaching beach as carefully as the destination. At Kitepower El Gouna, a sandy lagoon teaching area, small groups and separate riding zones let the instructor plan a clear progression from kite control to body-dragging and water starts. The school has operated since 2004; the current northern base opened in 2016.
The first roughly 800 m teaching area is often knee-to-waist deep in typical conditions. Depth varies with tide, location and rider height; we select the active zone each day. Progress depends on your starting point, practice and suitable wind. A course duration does not guarantee independent riding.

How semi-private pairing works: semi-private means 2 students of similar weight share one kite. If we can’t pair you with a same-weight partner, you have two options — ride private 1:1 at the private rate, or keep the semi-private price and ride 1:1 for the equivalent (shorter) water time. You’re told up front, so it’s never a surprise and you never pay more than you booked.

Our on-site station recorded 77% rideable days in 2022–2026. A qualifying day had at least 12 kt for 2 hours between 08:00 and 18:00; days with insufficient station coverage are excluded. This is historical wind suitability, not a forecast or a guarantee that every rider can ride.

Can I learn kitesurfing in German or English?
Both languages are offered, subject to instructor availability for your dates. Ask us to confirm your preferred language before booking; a list of teaching languages is not a guarantee of a language slot.
How many students share an instructor?
Standard lessons have a maximum of 2 students per instructor using one complete setup and taking turns. Semi-private pairing depends on similar weight and a compatible level; the format is agreed before the lesson.
When can I kitesurf in El Gouna?
Lessons are offered year-round when wind and water conditions are suitable. Our historical annual rideable-day measure is 77%, using at least 12 kt for 2 daytime hours. Check the monthly record and current forecast rather than assuming every holiday day is rideable.
Does finishing a course let me rent equipment?
A course duration does not guarantee independence. Kite rental requires a local skills check, including controlled upwind riding and self-rescue, plus suitable conditions and available equipment. Your instructor records the skills you actually demonstrate.
Do I need a wetsuit in winter?
Plan on a long, full wetsuit on the water and a warm layer on the beach. Wind and comfort vary; ask about equipment fit for your dates. Leave flexible days in the trip for weather-dependent lessons.
