This is an article that shouldn’t come as a surprise — but for many guests, it does. German-speaking instructors at Kitepower El Gouna have limited capacity. And demand significantly exceeds supply. If you want a guarantee of instruction in German, you need to book early.
Why Capacity Is Limited
Let’s look at the numbers:
- Germany: 37% of our guests
- Switzerland: 11%
- Austria: additional percentage on top
Together, over 50% of all guests speak German. And most of them prefer instruction in their native language — especially beginners, for whom understanding safety instructions is essential.
On the other side: we don’t have 50% German-speaking instructors. We have several, but not enough to cover the entire demand. During peak season (25 instructors at the spot), it’s manageable, but capacity fills up fast. In low season (8-10 instructors), the situation is even tighter.
When It’s Most Critical
September-November (Autumn Peak)
The absolute busiest period. Wind is the best, temperatures pleasant, and after the summer break everyone wants back on the water. German-speaking instructors are booked weeks in advance.
March-May (Spring Peak)
The second busiest period. Warming up, Easter brings a wave of guests. German-speaking instructors fill up fast again.
Christmas and New Year’s
Short but intense period. Many German-speaking families visit El Gouna for the holidays.
Summer (June-August)
Paradoxically the easiest time to get a German-speaking instructor — fewer guests overall. But also fewer instructors at the spot.
What We Offer
Instruction in German
German-speaking instructors lead kite courses and wing courses entirely in German. Safety briefing, instructions on the water (walkie-talkie), feedback — all in German.
VDWS Certification
For German-speaking guests, VDWS (Verband Deutscher Wassersport Schulen) certification is often more important than IKO. We offer VDWS certification for €40 as an add-on to the course. We teach according to IKO methodology by default (Lukas is an IKO Head Instructor since 2009), and IKO certification is included in the course price. VDWS is an optional bonus.
With a VDWS card, you can easily rent equipment anywhere in the world — it’s an internationally recognized standard, especially popular in German-speaking countries.
Professional Facilities
250+ Flysurfer kites (Indie, Stoke, ERA, Soul, Sonic, Hybrid from 2.5 to 21 m²), over 70 boards, Levitaz foils. Shallow lagoon with sandy bottom, 3 zones, rescue boat. Walkie-talkie communication during lessons.
Basic I course: 8 hours, €465 group / €695 private. All equipment included.
What to Do When a German-Speaking Instructor Isn’t Available
Let’s be honest: it’s not always possible to secure a German-speaking instructor, even if you book. What then?
English as an Alternative
All our instructors speak English. Instruction in English is fully equivalent — same methodology, same equipment, same quality. Most German-speaking guests who had instruction in English say the difference was minimal.
If you speak basic English — you’ll understand. Instructions on the water are simple and repetitive. After a few hours, you know all the key phrases.
7 Languages Total
We cover 7 languages in total. Beyond German and English, there are other European languages. Ask when booking — we might have an instructor in your native language.
How to Secure a German-Speaking Instructor
Here’s a simple plan:
- Contact us as early as possible — via contact or booking
- State that you want a German-speaking instructor — clearly, in the first message
- Provide exact dates — the more specific, the better we can plan
- Book early:
- Peak season (September-November, March-May): 4-8 weeks ahead
- Christmas/New Year’s: 6-8 weeks ahead
- Low season (January-February, summer): 2-3 weeks ahead usually works
- Be flexible with times — if you can ride morning instead of afternoon (or vice versa), you have a better chance

Conclusion
German-speaking kite instructors in El Gouna are available — but their capacity is limited. Over 50% of our guests speak German and demand is high, especially during peak season.
The key is simple: book early. The sooner you reach out, the more certain you’ll get a lesson in German. And if it doesn’t work out — English works reliably as an alternative.
