What if there's no one my weight for a semi-private lesson?
Semi-private means 2 students of similar weight share one kite. If we can't pair you with a same-weight partner, you have two options: ride private 1:1 at the private rate, or keep the semi-private price and ride 1:1 for the equivalent (shorter) water time. We tell you up front, so it's never a surprise — and you never pay more than you booked.
Does Kitepower El Gouna arrange accommodation?
We don't run a hotel and take no commission — so we'll tell you honestly where to stay rather than push a package. Book apartments and villas via Airbnb or Booking.com, and hotels direct on their own websites. If you're unsure where to base yourself, message us and we'll point you the right way.
How close are the hotels to the kite spot?
El Gouna is compact, but nowhere in town is within comfortable walking distance of our beach — you get here by tuk-tuk or taxi. The one exception is Casa Cook, and even from there the walk takes 20–30 minutes. Measured from our base, the northern area around Casa Cook is closest at about 7–10 minutes, the marina and Downtown are about 11–15 minutes, and the southern and golf-side resorts about 16–18 minutes. Those bands cover the beach-side districts. The newer residences inland, on the desert side, sit further out: G Cribs we have measured — 7.3 km by road, about 17 minutes by tuk-tuk. Maraya, Sholan, Scarab and Bali are in the same area, so expect something similar, but we haven't routed them and won't publish a number we haven't measured; email [email protected] with the address and we'll tell you. Actual journey times depend on the exact address, route and traffic, so confirm the route and transport options with the property before booking.
What's the cheapest way to stay in El Gouna for a kite trip?
Apartments booked off-peak are the cheapest option, from around €50 a night. Travel in the quieter months (January, February, July, early December) for lower accommodation prices and more space on the water.
Which area of El Gouna should I stay in?
For water-first trips, the north end around Casa Cook is closest to our beach (~7 minutes by tuk-tuk). Abu Tig Marina and Downtown are the lively, walkable hearts of town — restaurants, bars and boutique hotels, about 11–15 minutes from us. The south side is greener and quieter, home to the golf resorts, about 16–18 minutes. Across those waterside districts the ride stays short — El Gouna is a compact town of lagoons and islands. The exception is the newer inland residences on the desert side: they are further out — G Cribs is about 17 minutes by tuk-tuk, and Maraya, Sholan, Scarab and Bali sit in the same area, so ask us before you assume a beach-side ride time.
Do I need a car in El Gouna?
No. Getting around within your own district is easy on foot, and for everything else — including the ride to our beach — you take a tuk-tuk, a local taxi or a booking app. Coverage, fares and operating times vary, so check the actual route and return options rather than assuming every service is always available.
Which hotel is best for families learning to kite?
Three Corners Rihana Inn is a popular, kid-friendly family option. At our base, families have a beach playground beside the first ~800 m knee-to-waist-deep teaching area. The playground is not supervised childcare, so an accompanying adult remains responsible.
Is El Gouna a gated resort — and does that affect my stay?
Yes. El Gouna is a privately managed town developed by Orascom, with controlled entrances. Arrange entry and arrival details with your host or hotel in advance. Controlled access is practical context, not a personal-safety guarantee; normal precautions and current official travel advice still apply.
How do I get from the airport to my accommodation?
Hurghada International Airport (HRG) is a 30–40 minutes drive from El Gouna, and most of Europe is a 4–5 hour direct flight. Our taxi waits at arrivals with a Kitepower sign, so you go straight from the plane to your bed.
What should I pack for the season I'm coming in?
Summer is warm — boardshorts or a bikini on the water, a t-shirt in the evening. Winter air sits around 22 °C, so it's a hoodie on the beach and a full, long wetsuit on the water (not a shorty). We provide the wetsuit.
