A Kiter's Guide to El Gouna Neighbourhoods & Hotels

By Lukáš Vogeltanz · teaches at Kitepower El Gouna 5 min read

Accommodation overview in El Gouna for kitesurfers – from budget hotels to luxury resorts. 6 specific recommendations, apartments, villas and what's closest to the beach.

Accommodation in El Gouna spans different areas, standards and budgets. The town has controlled entrances and local services, but do not treat that as a guarantee about a particular property: verify recent reviews, access, cancellation terms, construction nearby and the exact room before booking.

Prices range from roughly 50 € per night for a simple hotel up to 500 € for a luxury suite. And everything is at most 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from our kite centre. If you want to know more about getting around and what makes the town tick first, see our guide to El Gouna.

How El Gouna Works

For those who haven’t been: El Gouna is a privately managed resort on the Red Sea coast, about 30–40 minutes north of Hurghada airport (HRG). It has marinas, medical services, schools, shops, hotels and restaurants. Current availability and the standard of an individual provider must still be checked.

Tuk-tuks and other local transport connect much of El Gouna, but prices, operating times and access vary. Check the actual travel time from a property to our base and confirm the fare before travelling.

6 Hotels We Recommend

Over the years, dozens of hotels have been tried by our customers. These six come up most often:

1. Three Corners Rihanna Inn

Best for: Families with children looking for good value for money. A solid hotel with all-inclusive, pool, and kids’ programme. Nothing luxurious, but it works reliably. Many of our Czech guests stay here and are happy. Reasonably priced.

2. Ocean View Hotel

Best for: Couples and individuals who want peace without children. An adults-only hotel with nice views. Smaller, quieter, friendly staff. Good location — El Gouna Marina is within walking distance.

3. Ali Pasha Hotel

Best for: Those who want to be in the centre of the action. A boutique hotel right by the marina. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops. Smaller rooms but a fantastic atmosphere — in the evening you step out and you’re in the middle of everything. Popular with younger kitesurfers.

4. Casa Cook

Best for: Wellness enthusiasts, couples without children. A design-focused adults-only hotel with beautiful gardens and pool. Modern, minimalist style. Excellent food. Higher price bracket, but you get a genuinely pleasant experience. Many people come here even without a kite — just to relax.

5. Steigenberger Golf Resort

Best for: Those who want to combine golf and kitesurfing. A larger resort with a golf course. Spacious rooms, several pools, multiple restaurants. If you’re travelling with a partner who doesn’t kite, this is a great choice — while you’re on the water, they have plenty to do.

6. The Chedi

Best for: Those who want luxury. The most luxurious hotel in El Gouna. Huge rooms, private beaches, top-tier service. At the upper end of the price scale (expect 300–500 € per night), but if the budget allows, it’s a world-class experience.

Apartments and Villas

Not everyone wants a hotel. Many kitesurfers — especially those coming for longer stays or in groups — opt for apartments or villas.

Apartments are available on Airbnb and Booking.com. The advantage: your own kitchen, more space, often cheaper than a hotel (especially for 2+ people). El Gouna has dozens of residential complexes with pools and management. Prices from 30–40 € per night for a studio to 100+ € for a larger flat.

Villas are ideal for groups of 4–8 people. Private pool, garden, sometimes even direct lagoon access. Prices vary widely, but when splitting among a group, the per-person cost is often less than a hotel. Look on Airbnb or ask us — get in touch and we’ll send you recommendations.

What to Consider When Choosing

Distance from the kite centre. If you want to be near the base, compare accommodation in northern El Gouna and confirm the live journey time for your exact property. Our base sits on the northern edge of town; the usable training zone is selected from the actual wind, depth, traffic and rider level instead of being inferred from position alone.

All-inclusive vs. room only. All-inclusive is convenient, but El Gouna has plenty of excellent restaurants (including our beach club right on the sand). If you like trying new places, all-inclusive will tie you down. On the other hand — after a full day of kiting, sometimes it’s nice to get back to the hotel and have everything ready.

Length of stay. For a week, a hotel works fine. For two weeks or more, consider an apartment. You’ll save money and feel more at home.

With or without kids. If you’re travelling with young children, choose a hotel with a kids’ club or pool. Kids can start kitesurfing lessons from around 5–6 years old and from 20 kg, but they need other activities too. El Gouna has playgrounds, cinema, swimming — they won’t be bored.

Coworking

This is a newer trend — people come for 2–4 weeks and combine work with kitesurfing. Work in the morning, ride in the afternoon. El Gouna has stable internet in most hotels and apartments, and there are coworking spaces available too — we even have an air-conditioned coworking space with sea views right at the centre. If you’re planning a “workation,” this is the ideal place.

How to Book

Two tried-and-tested sources:

  • Booking.com — for hotels. Most hotels in El Gouna are listed, prices are competitive, and you get flexible cancellation policies.
  • Airbnb — for apartments and villas. Wider selection, sometimes better prices for longer stays.

Or simply ask us. We know what works and, most importantly, we know what’s worked well for kitesurfers. Write via contact or book a course through online booking and we’ll sort out accommodation together. If you’re still planning the trip itself, our El Gouna activities and getting here guides cover the rest.

One More Tip

If this is your first visit and you’re not sure what to choose — don’t worry, just pick something. You genuinely can’t go wrong in El Gouna. The biggest difference is in price and style, not quality. And after your first stay, you’ll know exactly what suits you.

About 8 in 10 of our guests come back. And most of them switch from a hotel to an apartment after their first visit — because they discover that they prefer having their own space and freedom.

See you on the beach.
