“Is it safe there?” is a common question from people considering their first trip to El Gouna. It is reasonable to want current information about the destination and the practical risks before you fly.

This guide focuses on what you can verify and prepare. A resort’s security arrangements are not a safety guarantee, and travel advice can change quickly.

How the resort environment works

El Gouna is a privately managed resort town with controlled entrances and its own local services. In practical terms, that means:

• Controlled entrances and local security — security staff monitor the resort entrances.
• Maintained public areas — the centre, marinas and hotel areas generally feel calmer than busy Hurghada.
• Local infrastructure — El Gouna has medical services, pharmacies, shops and other everyday facilities.
• The same need for normal precautions — do not leave valuables unattended, use secure storage and follow current official travel advice.

The transfer from Hurghada airport usually takes about 30–40 minutes. Traffic inside the resort is generally calmer, but normal travel awareness still applies. Getting from the Airport

The nearest airport is Hurghada (HRG). Routes, schedules and journey times vary by departure city, airline and season, so check them for your exact dates.

At the airport:

1. Visa and documents — requirements depend on nationality and can change. Check your foreign ministry and the official Egypt e-Visa portal before travel rather than relying on an old blog price or airport procedure.

Currency and Payments

• Cards — many hotels, restaurants and shops accept cards, but a terminal or connection can fail.

• Golf buggies — rental terms and local rules depend on the operator.
• Walking or cycling — practical for shorter distances; account for heat, sun and traffic.
• Car — usually unnecessary for a normal stay inside El Gouna. For longer journeys, pay close attention to the driver and vehicle condition.
