Kitesurfing Courses in El Gouna – What's Included in the Price?

What a kite course in El Gouna includes: full Flysurfer gear, a record of the IKO level actually demonstrated, two-way helmet coaching and gear insurance.

Before you book a kite course, you want to know exactly what you’re paying for. We get it. Course prices can look high at first glance, and when you compare schools it’s often unclear what’s included and what isn’t. Some list a low headline price and then you discover you pay extra for equipment, extra for the certificate, extra for insurance.

We do things differently. Let’s break down exactly what you get.

Course Prices

Our core Beginner course — Zero to Hero — is 8 hours long and comes in two formats:

• Semi-private: €465 — maximum 2 students per instructor
• Private: €695 — 1 student, 1 instructor

Those 8 hours are spread across two sessions per day, each roughly 1.5 hours, so the course usually runs over 3–5 days. Why not 8 hours straight? Because kitesurfing is physically demanding, and after about 1.5 hours on the water your concentration and strength drop off. Short sessions with a break between them are simply more effective.

What’s Included in the Price

Full Flysurfer Equipment

You don’t need to own, buy or arrange anything. The course price includes:

• Kite — we ride Flysurfer exclusively, having been their official distributor and test point since 2009. We run over 250 kites across the Indie, Stoke, ERA, Soul, Sonic and Hybrid lines, in sizes from 3 m² to 21 m². For lessons we mainly use the smaller, easy-to-control models that are safest for learning.
• Board — more than 60 boards in a full range of sizes. Your instructor picks the right one for your weight and level.
• Harness — a seat harness for beginners that keeps the kite anchored to your body.
• Helmet — mandatory for every student, with built-in two-way coaching (more on that below).
• Safety vest — mandatory for every student on the lagoon.

You don’t even need to worry about a wetsuit. For most of the year the lagoon is warm enough to ride in boardshorts and a rashguard. In the cooler winter months you’ll want a full, long wetsuit — and we lend you one at no extra cost.

IKO-Certified Instructors

Kitepower El Gouna is an IKO Pro Center, and every instructor is certified by the IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization). Lukáš, one of the school’s co-owners, has been an IKO Head Instructor since 2009 — which means he’s qualified to train and certify other instructors.

During peak season we field a large team of instructors who, between them, speak eight languages. Czech, German and English are a given, and you can communicate in several others too.

Two-Way Helmet Coaching

This is something many schools don’t offer, and it makes an enormous difference. Every student’s helmet has a built-in two-way BB Talkin Bluetooth system, so your instructor can both talk to you and hear you in real time, right there on the water. No squinting back at the beach trying to read hand signals. You simply hear: “Pull the left hand down — yes, like that. Now board on your feet. Good, stand tall.” And you can ask a question without coming in.

Instant two-way feedback means fewer mistakes and faster progress. Most importantly, it’s safer: if you end up in a situation you can’t handle, your instructor talks you through exactly what to do.

Straight Into the Water

We don’t park beginners on the beach flying a trainer kite all day. After a short safety briefing and rigging on the sand — where we also show you how to launch and land — initial drills move into the first roughly 800 m knee-to-waist-deep teaching area when conditions suit. From day one you’re body-dragging and working towards your first water starts; later progress depends on the learner and conditions. The water is where you actually learn. Your Demonstrated IKO Level Recorded at No Extra Charge

Your instructor records the IKO level you actually demonstrate during the course. The record is internationally understood and can support a later rental request, but it does not guarantee independent-rider status or rental: every centre may reassess skills, local rules, conditions and equipment availability.

With us, recording the IKO skills and level you actually demonstrate is part of the course with no separate certification fee. Some schools charge an extra €30–50 for that record. Not here. Completing the package still does not create a preset level.

If you’d also like VDWS certification (the German system), our instructors can arrange it for €40.

Equipment Insurance During Lessons

While you’re learning you ride on our gear, and you don’t have to worry about damaging it. If something happens — and it does happen, it’s part of learning — you don’t pay for the damage. Insurance is included in the course price.

That matters, because kite gear isn’t cheap. Knowing you won’t be liable for any damage lets you focus on learning instead of being afraid to try.

Rescue Support During Operating Hours

Rescue support is available during operating hours, but continuous boat presence, a specific intervention and a response time cannot be guaranteed. It complements — rather than replaces — the safety briefing, zone rules and self-rescue skills.

Returning-Rider Discount on New Gear

After your course you’re entitled to a discount on new Flysurfer and Levitaz equipment in our shop. If you decide you want your own kite, board or foil, you save right from the start. We’ve ridden Flysurfer exclusively since 2009 and partnered with the German hydrofoil brand Levitaz since 2015, so we know exactly what to recommend.

What’s NOT Included in the Price

To be straight with you, here’s what you cover yourself.

Accommodation

El Gouna offers everything from budget rooms to five-star resorts, with prices that swing widely by season and type. We don’t bundle accommodation — in our experience everyone has different preferences and budgets.

Food

You can eat right at our beach club or anywhere in El Gouna. On site we serve food and drinks at fair prices, so you never need to leave to refuel.

Airport Transfer from Hurghada

Hurghada airport (HRG) is about 30–40 minutes from El Gouna. We’re happy to arrange a transfer for you — but you’re not obliged to use us. You can organise your own or grab a taxi.

Beach Access After the Course

Beach access and facilities are included during your course. If you later rent from us, they are included in the rental too — there is no separate Kitepass or spot fee. A Kitepass is only for a verified independent rider using their own gear.

Semi-Private vs Private — Which to Choose?

Both options include the exact same equipment, the same insurance, recording of the IKO level actually demonstrated and the same two-way helmet coaching. The difference is instructor attention and water time.

In semi-private you share the kite with one other student. In practice that means out of a 1.5-hour session you spend around 45 minutes actually on the water. In private you get the full 90 minutes.

For most people semi-private is an excellent choice. The breaks between rides aren’t wasted — you watch your partner, learn from their mistakes and rest. Kitesurfing is demanding, and those pauses genuinely help.

Private makes sense if you have limited time (say only a few days for your whole trip), want maximum progression, or simply prefer one-on-one attention.

We’ve been teaching as the oldest kite school in El Gouna since 2004, and at our current spot in the far north of town since 2016 — owner-operated by Lukáš and Andrea since 2023.
