Kitesurfing and Wingfoiling as a Christmas Gift — Why It Works
By Lukáš Vogeltanz · teaches at Kitepower El Gouna 5 min read
Give kitesurfing or wingfoiling in El Gouna for Christmas. An experience instead of a sweater, voucher from €100, flexible dates. For couples, families, and individuals.
Christmas. The time when you try to find a gift that delights — and that won’t end up in a box on top of the wardrobe. If the recipient loves sport, the sea, or simply experiences, we have an idea: a gift voucher for kitesurfing or wingfoiling in El Gouna.
It’s not a classic Christmas gift. And that’s exactly why it works.
An Experience Instead of Another Sweater
How many sweaters, socks, and mugs with slogans does your partner, friend, or parent already have? Probably enough. An experience is a different category. Kitesurfing in warm water in Egypt — that’s something you’ll remember. And something that gives you far more than any thing.
Plus: a kitesurfing gift voucher is something to look forward to all winter. They receive it at Christmas, start planning the trip, pick dates — and have motivation to get through January and February.
Something to Look Forward to After Christmas
This might be the strongest aspect. Christmas is nice, but January? Grey, cold, long. When you know a week at a kite spot in Egypt awaits you — January suddenly looks different.
The voucher isn’t just a gift for December 24th. It’s a promise of an experience that comes later — and that anticipation is valuable in itself.
Who It Works For
Couples
One kites, the other relaxes. Or both try a wing. Or one takes a course and the other enjoys the beach, the beach club, and El Gouna. A kitesurfing holiday works even for couples where only one person does the sport.
At our spot, we have sun loungers, a beach restaurant, and an air-conditioned coworking space with sea views. The non-kiting partner won’t be bored.
Families
Kids from around 5–6 years old (and from about 20 kg) can try kitesurfing, subject to individual assessment — see our kids’ programme. There is a large wooden playground at the base, but it is not supervised childcare and an accompanying adult remains responsible. Lagoon depth changes with tide and conditions.
A family Christmas gift: a voucher for kitesurfing for the parents + a holiday in El Gouna for the whole family.
Singles
Kitesurfing is an individual sport — you don’t need a partner or a team. Come alone, meet people at the spot (about 8 in 10 of our guests return, so the community is stable), spend a week on the water, and go home with a new sport and new friends.
Beginners
Never kited? No problem. Our Beginner course (8 hours) teaches you the fundamentals — after beach safety and rigging, initial drills move into the first roughly 800 m knee-to-waist-deep teaching area when conditions suit, rather than spending the lesson on a trainer kite. Every student wears a two-way BB Talkin Bluetooth helmet, so the instructor can both talk to you and hear you in real time on the water. The IKO level actually demonstrated is recorded at no extra charge, without promising independent-rider status, and lesson equipment is included. The voucher is the ideal push for someone who’s been thinking about kitesurfing but never took the first step. If you’re curious how fast it goes, read how long it takes to learn kitesurfing.
How to Give
Gift vouchers start from €100. You can give:
- A specific course — for example the Beginner kite course or a wingfoil course
- Any amount — the recipient chooses how to use it for a course, open hours or a rental request; independent equipment use still requires the practical skill and safety check
- A combination — course plus another suitable service, or kite plus wing; course completion does not automatically unlock rental
How to do it:
- Write to [email protected] or via our contact page
- Choose the value or a specific service
- Receive the voucher — electronically, ready for under the tree
- The recipient picks their dates and contacts us
Flexible dates — no pressure and no expiry tied to a specific week. The recipient comes when it suits them.
Valentine’s Version
The same principle works for Valentine’s Day. A shared experience instead of flowers and chocolate. A voucher for kitesurfing or wingfoiling for two — one does the sport, the other relaxes, or both try something new.
El Gouna in February is cooler (you’ll wear a full, long wetsuit, which we provide), but quiet and affordable. Or use the voucher in spring — March and April are ideal.
What It Could Cost
Vouchers start from €100, and you can put them toward any service. A few popular options to give:
- Beginner kite course (8 hours) — from €465 semi-private, €695 private
- Beginner wingfoil course (5 hours) — from €365 semi-private, €515 private
- Open hours — from €60/hour for kite, €65/hour for wing
For the full, current list, just point your recipient at our courses — or let them choose with an open-value voucher. A voucher toward the wingfoil course is an ideal gift for someone who wants to try wingfoiling — time on the water, equipment included, and the IWO level actually demonstrated recorded without a promised result.
