One of the most common questions we get from guests is: “Should I bring my own kite, or can I rent one from you?” The answer depends on your level, how often you ride, and whether a broad rental range gives you useful flexibility compared with the quiver you can carry.

What You Need to Rent

Let’s be upfront from the start — the rental isn’t for everyone. To rent kite equipment, you need to be at independent-rider level: able to launch and land, ride upwind in both directions, water-start reliably and self-rescue. The team confirms those skills before releasing equipment. An IKO card or equivalent is useful evidence of a previously demonstrated level, but no card guarantees rental.

Not yet at independent level? Start with a kite course or, if you’re returning after a break, a refresh. Recording the IKO skills and level you actually demonstrate is included at no extra charge, but completing the course alone does not approve a rental.

Why do we check? Safety. There are always other people on the water, and we need to be sure that everyone who rents a kite can handle it independently in the current conditions. 250+ Kites — Why It Matters

This number isn’t just a marketing figure. We run over 250 kites ranging from 4 to 21 m² — and that’s a huge advantage over bringing your own equipment.

How It Works in Practice

You come to the spot and we check the measured wind, your weight, level and plan for the session. The team then recommends suitable available equipment. A smaller kite may suit a stronger period, while a larger kite or foil setup may extend some light-wind sessions. These are options, not promises: individual sizes remain subject to availability, and no equipment turns unsafe or unrideable conditions into a guaranteed session.

We ride Flysurfer kites — a brand we’ve worked with since 2009, when the centre became their official distributor and test point in El Gouna. These are kites with an enormous wind range, perfectly suited to El Gouna’s conditions. They’re paired with Levitaz boards and German hydrofoils, which we’ve used since 2015. Across the fleet we also keep 60+ boards — twintips and directionals — so the whole setup matches the day.

What’s Included in the Rental Price

When you rent kite equipment from us, you don’t just get a kite and board. The price includes:

• Kite in the recommended size for current conditions
• Board (twintip or directional, depending on preference and conditions)
• Harness (if you need one)
• Assisted launch and landing — our beach team helps you with safe takeoff and landing
• Rescue support — available during operating hours; a specific intervention or response time cannot be guaranteed
• Spot access with full facilities (sun loungers, showers, toilets)

That’s a key difference from many other rentals. Beach access, launch assistance and rescue support during operating hours are included, so you do not buy a separate Kitepass; a specific intervention or response time cannot be guaranteed.

Insurance — Optional but Recommended

We offer optional equipment-damage insurance for a small daily fee. If you’re riding in more challenging conditions or aren’t entirely confident yet, we recommend taking it: with insurance, you have peace of mind and can focus on riding instead of on the gear. Prepaid Packages — How to Save

A single rental day costs more than a package. If you know you’ll be riding for several days, prepaid packages save you money — more days means a lower daily rate. And if there’s no wind one day, you have buffer days in the package to fill the gap.

Packages are built around your stay (for example, a set number of rental days to be used within a longer window). The current package options and prices are on our kite rental page, or you can review them when you book.

How the Rental Works — Step by Step

1. Come to the spot and share any IKO, VDWS or equivalent skill record you hold
2. Complete the practical check — we confirm independent upwind riding and self-rescue, then apply the local rules and current conditions
3. We prepare the equipment — kite, board, harness
4. Launch with assistance — our beach team helps you take off
5. You ride — rescue support is available during operating hours, without a guaranteed response time
6. Landing with assistance — safe landing back on the beach
7. Return the equipment — we rinse it and store it

The whole thing is worry-free. You don’t have to deal with pumping, folding, or washing salt out of your gear. You just ride, and we take care of the rest.

Who Is the Rental Ideal For

Travelling Kiters

Ride at different spots around the world and don’t want to haul equipment everywhere? Rental can be ideal. Fly in with a small suitcase; if suitable equipment is available and conditions are safe and rideable, the team can set up your first session without a board bag.

Kiters Transitioning to New Gear

Thinking about switching from a tube kite to a foil kite? Or from a twintip to a hydrofoil? With us, you can try it before investing thousands of euros in gear you’re not sure about yet.

Light-Wind Riders

Here’s the hidden advantage of our rental. In some 10–12-knot periods, a suitable experienced rider may use a larger kite or foil setup when depth and safety conditions allow. Our broad range creates more options than one 12-metre travel kite, but a 17- or 21-metre kite is not automatically suitable or available, and it does not guarantee riding.

Couples and Groups

Travelling with a partner or friends of different weights? The fleet gives the team more options to recommend equipment for each rider, subject to availability, level and the measured conditions.

When It’s Better to Have Your Own Equipment

To be fair, rental isn’t always the best choice:

• You ride at one spot regularly — then consider gear storage and keep your equipment here
• You have very specific preferences — an extremely specialised setup we don’t carry
• You ride daily for weeks — for long stays, owning your gear can work out better

For most kiters visiting for one or two weeks, the rental is more convenient and practical.

Why Not Every Rental Is the Same

We’re the oldest kite school in El Gouna, founded in 2004 and run by the current co-owners since 2023, building on more than two decades of school history. In 2016 the school moved to the very north of El Gouna, and that’s where we remain. The open upwind side reduces cross-traffic from other schools, but it never removes drift or recovery risk: independent renters follow the briefing, zone rules and self-rescue requirements.

Our lagoon is 2–3 km long and about 1 km wide. Its first roughly 800 m is knee-to-waist deep over sand, followed by separate riding and dedicated deeper foil zones. Depth changes with tide and conditions, so independent renters check the current water level and follow the zone guidance. (Our month-by-month wind guide uses years of data from our own weather station.)
